Steps for selecting a lens
a. Figure out the requirements for applications, such as field, accuracy, installation height, etc.
b. Calculate the core parameters. For example, use field of view (FOV), camera sensor format and working distance (WD) to calculate focal distance,
FOV (Horizontal) WD
Sensor format (Horizontal) ≈ Focal distance
c. Resolution matching: the lens resolution should be higher than that of camera.
d. Depth of field (DOF): use a small aperture as much as possible; the calculation of DOF is complicated, which should be performed according to actual conditions.
e. Select a suitable light for the application.
f. Consider the space for lens installation.
